the short version

Privacy-friendly visit counting. We count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which uses no cookies and doesn't follow you around the web. There is no advertising and there are no social media pixels.
No accounts or forms. If you email us, we receive what you send us and nothing more.
Buying happens elsewhere. When you click Buy Now you go to OrientalMart, a separate company with its own privacy policy.

This website is run by We Need Good Food Company Limited (trading as We Need Good Food, and referred to here as "we" or "us"), a company registered in England and Wales, company number 14805322. Our registered office is 3 Clarendon Court, Warrington, WA2 8QP.
We are the "controller" of the personal data described on this page under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. You can contact us about anything on this page at info@weneedgoodfood.com.

We collect very little. This is everything:

Your name, email address and whatever you choose to tell us, for example when you ask about stocking our ramen or suggest a shop.

Legitimate interests (running our business and answering people who contact us) or, where you ask about working with us, taking steps at your request before entering a contract.

Up to 24 months after our last contact with you. If we start working together, we keep the records for as long as the relationship lasts and as the law requires.
technical data when you visit
What
Your IP address, browser and device type, the pages requested and the time. This is created automatically whenever any website is visited.
Why
To deliver the website to you, keep it secure and prevent abuse. It is handled by our hosting provider, Cloudflare, Inc. (Cloudflare Pages). We don't use it to identify or track individual visitors.

Our hosting provider keeps server logs on its standard schedule.
visit statistics
What
Which pages are viewed, which website or search sent you here, your country, your type of device and browser, and how quickly pages load. When you click "Buy now", you pass through a short page on our website on the way to OrientalMart, so we can count how many people we send there. It is counted in aggregate, without cookies, and individual visitors are not identified or followed.

We don't take payments, run accounts or keep a marketing mailing list through this website. We don't sell personal data, and we don't use it for profiling or automated decision-making.
cookies and similar technologies
This website does not set cookies, and it does not store or read anything on your device (for example in local storage or session storage). Because of that, there is no cookie banner: the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) only require consent where information is stored on, or read from, your device, and we don't do either. Our visit counting (Cloudflare Web Analytics) works without cookies, local storage or fingerprinting, and doesn't track people across websites, so it doesn't need a banner either.
If that ever changes, for example if we add website analytics, we will update this page first and ask for your consent before anything starts, with "accept" and "reject" as equally easy choices. You'll be able to change your mind at any time.
Other things this website doesn't use: advertising or tracking pixels, social media plug-ins, embedded third-party video players, or third-party fonts. Our fonts, images and videos are all served from this website.
the store finder
The store finder is the only part of the website that involves other companies, and only when it is showing a map:
The map. The map software is loaded from the cdnjs service (run by Cloudflare) and the map pictures come from OpenStreetMap. Like any website you visit, these services receive your IP address and standard browser details when your browser asks them for the files. We don't send them anything else.
Searching by postcode. If you type a postcode, it is sent to postcodes.io to work out where it is. We don't receive or keep it.
"Use my location". Only if you press the button and allow it in your browser. Your location stays in your browser to sort stores by distance. It isn't sent to us.
"Directions". This link opens Google Maps in a new tab, and only if you click it.
who we share personal data with
Service providers who help us run the website and our email, such as Cloudflare, Inc. (Cloudflare Pages) (which also provides our visit counting) and our email provider. They only act on our instructions.
OrientalMart. When you click Buy Now you leave our website and go to OrientalMart, which takes and delivers orders. It is a separate company and its own privacy policy applies to anything you do on its website. We don't receive your order details.
Others where the law requires it, such as regulators or law enforcement, and professional advisers when we need their advice.
Some providers may process data outside the UK. When they do, we make sure the transfer is covered by UK adequacy regulations or appropriate safeguards, such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum.
your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
be told what personal data we hold about you and get a copy of it;
have inaccurate data corrected;
have your data deleted, in some circumstances;
ask us to restrict how we use your data;
object to us using your data on the basis of legitimate interests;
receive your data in a portable format, where that applies;
withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on consent.
To use any of these rights, email info@weneedgoodfood.com. It's free. We'll reply within one month, and we may need to check who you are first. If a request is particularly complex we may need longer, and we'll tell you why.
complaints
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your personal data, please tell us first at info@weneedgoodfood.com. We'll acknowledge your complaint within 30 days, look into it properly, and tell you the outcome without undue delay.
You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK data protection regulator: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint, helpline 0303 123 1113. You don't have to complain to us first.
a few more things
Security. The website is served over HTTPS, and we limit who can see anything you send us.
Children. This website is for a general audience and isn't aimed at children. We don't knowingly collect children's personal data.
Other websites. We link to other websites, including OrientalMart. We're not responsible for their content or privacy practices.
Changes. If we change how we handle personal data, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
